Most problems we solve are problems we have solved before. The difference between a five-minute fix and an afternoon of frustration is usually whether somebody wrote down what they did last time.

Keep a running log

A single file with a dated line or two whenever you change something important, set something up, or learn why something broke. It does not need to be organised. Search does the rest.

Writing things down also makes thinking clearer. If you cannot explain a decision in two sentences, you probably do not understand it yet.
